OBSERVATION ON TEACHER

PLANNING FOR TEACHING

The teachers at VRU Demonstration School has prepared a lesson plan before they teach. Before preparing a lesson plan, the teacher has observed what the characteristics of the students are, class conditions, school environment conditions, what programs are in the class‒Standard Program, Intensive English Program or English Program‒as well as the types of material to be taught. The teacher prepares a lesson plan based on these factors.

PREPARING LESSONS AND MATERIALS

The lesson plan is adapted to the applicable curriculum and adapted to the subjects contained in the book as a guide. Next the teacher prepares the material and learning media. The material that already exists in the book was developed again by the teacher. The teacher also prepares learning materials through various media, one of which is by using videos found on YouTube.

TEACHING IN CLASS

The teacher has taught according to the stages in the lesson plan. Starting with a warm-up activity, all students will get ready and stand up followed by greeting the teacher with their poses and bow their heads slightly. Next, the teacher asks students to recall the subject they have learned. During presentation activity, the teacher asks students to answer questions related to the subject being studied. Then students are asked to observe a video on YouTube. Students are asked by the teacher to explain what they see on YouTube. Then the teacher completes the students' answers and writes them on the board. Last is the warp up activity, students are asked to copy the notes on the board.

MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION

In measuring and evaluating students, the teacher uses a variety of assessment techniques such as conducting questions and answers, assessing worksheets, assessing student assignments, checking and assessing homework, and conducting written tests. And also, teachers usually ask the students to complete the tasks in the book.
